Lets, Record your Screen to Create Videos Tutorials

How do you record your screen and make a video tutorial?

  1. First, Choose the right screen recording software for your needs.

OBS is the most popular free program. You can also use premium programs like Fillmore, Camtasia, or even built-in tools like Windows Xbox game bar or screen flow for Mac.

  2. Plan your video tutorial before you press record.

Plan ahead and practice what you’re going to teach in your video tutorial. Do a dry run before you record. Be engaging and fun, and adapt your lesson to meet the needs of your chosen market.

  3. Choose the right equipment for the job.

If you want to do a split-face screen recording, you’ll need additional lighting and a green screen in addition to a separate microphone. Go for a video editor that is easy enough for you to zoom in on footage if needed, making your content much simpler to follow.

  4. Record and finish your video tutorial.

When we record, the hardest part is getting through it. We all want everything to be perfect, but we must finish the video. It can be edited, and you can add final touches later in postproduction. This is where you’ll really be able to make your video stand out and add your own personal touch. And everything gets better with practice.

  5. Add the right title and cover.

Adding the right cover and title to your video recording will help people find it when they are searching for it online. And the right titles and covers sell your video. If you’re not sure what the perfect title and cover would be, I recommend using a freelancer like Fiverr, where you’ll be able to find some affordable help.

  6. Publish your video tutorial.

There are a few different ways to sell your video tutorial. You can post it on your own website or on a market like Udemy or Skillshare. You could also post it on a website like YouTube and use advertising to make money from views or affiliate links.

What is the best software for making video tutorials?

OBS is the most popular free program to record your screen. The important part is how well you edit your video and which video editor you use. You can use a premium program like Filmore or Camtasia to record your screen and edit your video. You also can use a built-in tool like the Windows Xbox Game Bar tool or ScreenFlow on a Mac.

What is the best video editor & screen recording software to buy?

Based on popularity and function, it’s down to two software: Camtasia vs. Filmora. It depends on your specific needs. If you need powerful and comprehensive editing tools, then Camtasia is the best option. However, if you want a more affordable and user-friendly option, then Filmora is a better choice

Any of the software you choose will work fine as a video editor and screen recorder

Camtasia Vs. Filmora

The software I recommend is Filmora. Especially if you are just getting started. and you need screen recording software for tutorials. The price of Filmora is cheaper than Camtasia, about $200 less.  Filmora is made by Wondershare, which is a pretty big company. They make all kinds of video editing software.

And in my opinion, it’s just as good as Camtasia. If you’re starting a YouTube channel from scratch and you don’t have $200 to spend on recording software, then I would say go with Filmora.

Camtasia and Filmora both have a one-time purchase fee. And they both have a software version for mac and PC users.

Now, What If You Don’t Care About The Price?

the best tool for creating video tutorials

Camtasia is a great program for split-screen recordings, and it has received many positive reviews. However, if you’re just starting out, I think Filmora is a more affordable option.

I also like Filmora because it’s pretty straightforward to use and comes with a lot of features, such as:

  • A library of royalty-free music
  • Green screen
  • Picture in picture
  • Screen recording
  • Animated titles
  • And Much More

How to install Filmora?

Installing Filmora is pretty simple

The program’s installation is simple. It’s also straightforward to use. All you have to do now is go to this website and download a trial version of the software.

In the video below, we will do a split-face recording with Filmora just like you can do in Camtasia

The best way to record a screen capture video

1. Have enough space on your hard drive.
2. Plan what you want to record.
3. Record in full-screen mode.
4. Use a script or outline to help keep your thoughts organized.
5. Boost your audio quality with a standalone microphone.
6. Make a test recording to ensure everything is working properly.

Combining A Face Recording With Your Screen Recording

Young freelancer using a modern laptop and digital camera for a split-face video recording at home.
A split-face video is a type of video recording that captures footage from two or more video sources simultaneously. An example of this would be a face video on your screen recording.

If you’re going to do a split-face recording, here are a few things to keep in mind

If you wear glasses, You want to avoid glare From your screen, so make sure to position your computer in a way that won’t create a reflection

If you’re using a standalone camera, like a cell phone, clap at the beginning of the recording to create a visual marker so you can easily merge both videos together in editing.

If you’re recording from your laptop, I recommend using an external mouse and keyboard. This will help you avoid any accidental clicks or keystrokes that might be picked up by your microphone.

Tips For Screen-Recorded Videos

No matter what screen recording software you use. These tips will help.

  • Start with a script: This will save you time in the editing process. You won’t have to cut out any dead space or umms and ahhs.
  • Use a good microphone: If your audio sounds bad, people will stop watching. Period. I recommend using a USB microphone like the Blue Yeti.
  • Use graphics: People love visuals. Add some interest to your videos with callouts, Annotations, and Arrows.
  • Edit your videos: This is where you’ll add your graphics, transitions, and music. If you want to get fancy, you can even do some color correction.
  • Promote your videos: Once you’ve published your video, make sure to share it on social media and email it to your list. You can also embed it on your blog or website.
  • Recording in full-screen mode: this is optimal so you can edit and crop sections later on. By recording this way, you ensure that no important details are missed.

Plan your screen recording, but don’t over plan

it is good to do a dry run of what you going to record maybe turn down your speaker volume. open up every page you’re going to show and make sure you have everything lined up before you start recording. otherwise, you’ll end up rambling and going off script. have everything you need open and ready to go before you start recording. This will help you stay on track and avoid any unnecessary filler content.

If you’re recording a how-to video, it’s important to show your face at least once, so people know who they’re watching. A quick 10-15 second intro is all you need. Just tell people your name and what they will learn from your video. If you’re recording a presentation or a webinar, it’s important to show your face at least once, so people know who they’re watching. A quick 10-15 second

Once you start your recording, planning time is over

I recommend you record until you have all the footage you need. This will help you avoid starting and stopping your recording, which can be jarring for viewers.

If you make a mistake, just keep going

No one is perfect, and people understand that. If you make a mistake while recording, just keep going. You can always edit out the mistake in post-production.

You can fix any errors during editing using the One Clap; Two Clap method. If you don’t, it could take days to make a single recording perfect.

Use the one-clap two clap method when recording

Basically, clap once when you begin any part of your recording, if you make a mistake and don’t want to preserve anything you’ve recorded, simply clap again, one time. When you’re at a portion of your video that you wish to save or make a mistake but want to keep what you’ve already recorded, clap twice.

This will make a visual mark that can be easily seen when editing your video. The claps will assist in the removal of all unusable content without you having to watch every second of footage.

Clapping can get kind of tiresome can always use a dog training clicker I found works really well

A picture of a laptop audio recording software showing the spikes of the audio
Loud noises can make a visual marker you can see when editing to help you remove sections you don’t want or line up multiple videos

And if you’re using a standalone camera or multiple cameras, the claps will allow you to sync up the audio and video in post. Post-production is where the magic happens after you’ve recorded all your footage, it’s time for post-production. This is where you’ll edit your video, add graphics, and do any final tweaks.

Bump up your auto  quality with a stand-alone microphone

This is optional but recommended. If you’re using a stand-alone microphone,  you can increase the quality of your audio without having to worry about the recording quality of your camera. I recommend using a USB microphone like the Blue Yeti. Or lapel mic like the Lavalier is also a great option.

Editing your video

editing your videos with Filmora will become easier with time make sure you take your time and have fun with it

There are a few things to keep in mind when editing your video

  • Keep it short and sweet: People have short attention spans, so make sure your videos are under 10 minutes. If you have a lot of content, consider breaking it up into multiple videos.
  • Start with a bang: The first few seconds of your video are crucial. Make sure you have a strong opening that will grab people’s attention.
  • Tell a story: A good video tells a story. Structure your video, so it has a beginning, middle, and end.
  • Add graphics: Adding some graphics can really make your video pop. Filmora has a lot of great options to choose from.
  • Add music: Music can really set the tone for your video. Choose something that fits the mood of your video.
  • Export in HD: Make sure you export your video in HD so people can watch it in all its glory.
